The Village

Anzere is a purpose built mountain resort but unlike many of its French counterparts all buildings have been sympathetically constructed in chalet style. The centre of the resort is traffic free and has a large pleasant village square which is the focus of the village.

Shopping

There are many good ski clothing and equipment shops to kit you out for the mountain. There are two very good and well stocked supermarkets in the Village. Prices are not inflated and therefore unless you need to do a huge shop it’s probably not worth going to the larger supermarkets in the Valley. There is a delicatessen on the top path into the village and a butcher in the village square. For fresh bread in the morning, as well as the supermarkets there are two boulangeries.

Dining Out

There are many very good restaurants in Anzere. Les Premiers Pas is excellent for local specialities. It does get busy so it is a good idea to book (+41 (0)27 398 29 29). The Pizzeria in the village square also does very good pizza and pasta. Again, in peak season, booking may be a good idea (+41 (0)27 398 29 28). The Creperie is cheap and cheerful and has a fantastic view. For a more unique dining experience try Le Grenier, next to the ski-school. Specialities include Spaghetti flambé that is cooked at your table!

The Local Wine

The local wine is very good. In particular try the Dole, Pinot Noir, Dole Blanche and Fendant which are extremely drinkable. You will have driven through the vineyards on your way up to the resort. Severaldo wine tastings but check with the tourist office for details.

Bars and Clubs

Anzere has a laid back apres-ski atmosphere with the focus being on eating out. There are several small bars dotted throughout the village which are friendly and tend to open quite late. Bar Peter Pan also has karaoke on some nights. There are two nightclubs.

There is also a Salon des Billiards underneath the Hotel Eden where pool tables can be rented for the hour and there are other arcade games.
